Certus Critical Care Receives $1.8M from the U.S. Department of Defense

Certus Critical Care, Inc. is pleased to announce that it will receive $1.8 million from the U.S. Department of Defense Joint Warfighter Medical Research Program (JWMRP) for further advanced development funding of their next generation endovascular variable aortic control (EVAC) System.

The EVAC System consists of an endovascular Catheter and automated Controller. The catheter is a low profile endovascular device that uses precision sensors, and adaptive algorithms within the Controller allow modulation of blood flow in the aorta for patients in profound shock from blood loss. Not only will it serve military members in austere environments, but will also have a role in the stabilization of critically ill and injured patients in well-resourced US trauma centers.

Certus is a physician/scientist lead, early stage medical device company based in Sacramento, California. Certus' mission is to save lives by harnessing the power of robotics and adaptive algorithms to build next generation intelligent endovascular devices to control blood flow. It is seeking FDA 510(k) clearance for the EVAC System to treat uncontrolled hemorrhage.
